Lorenzo Gayden
Lorenzo Gayden is a native of Jackson, MS and is a proud product of Jackson Public Schools, graduating from Lanier High School. He discovered a love for creating art at an early age, which would lead him eventually to Jackson State University to pursue a Fine Art Studio major.
Lorenzo has entered and won juried art competitions, and has participated solo and group exhibitions at The Smith Robertson Museum, Jackson Municipal Art Gallery, Mississippi Museum of Art and the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center. He has placed frquently at the annual Storyteller’s Ball Juried Art Show sponsored by the Greater Jackson Arts Council, winning first place in 2014 . He has active collectors from California to Washington, D.C. as well as locally.
In 2008, he opened Sanaa Gallery. where he has had his own art in the company of local art luminaries such as Harold Miller, Professor Johnnie Mae Maberry, and the late Gwendolyn Magee.
Currently, Lorenzo is a practicing artist, gallery owner (www.sanaagalleries.com), and musician/co-founder of the Southern Komfort Brass Band. His Expressionist Art is best described as figurative work focused on Jazz, Blues and African-American Women.
